DAA 2021 Conference & Educational Symposium - Update (21 09 22)

On behalf of the DAA Conference Planning Committee, thank you, again, for your patience.  The DAA has been in communication with our venue, the Fairmont Banff Springs, to come to an agreement regarding our hotel commitment and balancing this with knowledge of the high rate of Covid-19 cases in Alberta currently.

At this time, the DAA will be postponing our DAA 2021 Conference and the new 2022 conference dates will be announced in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, please cancel your room reservations and travel arrangements to Banff.  All conference registrations will be cancelled and full refunds will be processed and should be completed within the next week.

We would ask that you keep these same October dates (October 26 – 29, 2020) available as we will be offering some virtual professional development opportunities and our DAA AGM in the place of our conference.

We would like to thank our course presenters, sponsors and vendors for their early commitment to our DAA 2021 Conference.  We will be sharing additional information with you as it becomes available.

DAA 2021 Conference & Educational Symposium - Update (21 09 17)

On behalf of the DAA Conference Planning Committee, thank you for your patience.  As you know,
the Government of Alberta announced public health measures including updated health restrictions,
this past Wednesday evening.

Immediately after this announcement, the DAA contacted our host facility to confirm the status
of both our DAC National Meeting & DAA 2021 Conference.  We have been advised by the
Fairmont Banff Springs that they will be joining the Restrictions Exemption Program.  They have
also indicated that further changes and updates will likely be coming.

At this time, the DAA cannot make a determination about the National Meetings or the DAA Conference
until we have confirmation from the facility regarding our contract and financial obligation with them.

As such, we, unfortunately, do not have any further news to share as of today, as promised.

We do anticipate to be able to share updated news, as soon as it becomes available, likely September 20th
or 21st.  Thank you for your patience as we sort this out as soon as is humanly possible.

DAA 2021 Conference - Vaccination Policy

The Denturist Association of Alberta (DAA) is implementing a COVID-19 Vaccination/Expectations policy, effective August 25th, 2021, to support a safe environment for the DAC National Meeting and the DAA 2021 Conference & Education Symposium to be held at the Fairmont Banff Springs from October 24 – 29, 2021.  This policy is being implemented to:

  • Be able to implement our planning to hold a successful meeting and conference.
  • Limit Covid-19 risk to anyone in attendance.

The DAA is financially committed to hosting these two events and will only be cancelled if directed by the Government of Alberta.  The vaccination / expectation policy:

1. I am or will be (for those eligible to receive a vaccine) fully vaccinated for Covid-19 (two doses approved in Canada) by October 10, 2021, and prior to my attendance at the DAC National Meeting and/or the DAA 2021 Conference & Educational Symposium. I will be ready to provide proof of vaccination or medical vaccination exemption, on-site when asked. Alternately, a negative Covid-19 rapid test within 48 hours of attendance at the conference will be accepted. Test results will need to be provided on-site.
2. I agree to use hand sanitizer on a regular basis during conference events.
3. I will maintain social distancing, where possible, at all times.

It is also highly recommended to wear a mask in all indoor areas, during courses and events with the exception of meal times (while eating).

As we continue to monitor and navigate these unprecedented times, the DAA believes this policy is essential in providing a safe environment for everyone in attendance while being able to continue to provide this professional development and networking opportunity to our membership, vendors and guests.  We will continue to monitor the provincial Covid-19 situation and will communicate any updates as they become available and closer to conference commencement.

We are excited to be able to welcome members, colleagues and guests to Banff for the DAC National Meeting and the DAA 2021 Conference & Educational Symposium in late October!  We will be updating our registration site today and registration will now be open tomorrow, August 26th.

On behalf of the DAA Board, thank you for your attention to this information prior to registering for the DAA 2021 Conference & Educational Symposium.
